Hi all,

Check out the striking contrast between Jim McCormac's detailed Shawnee
State Forest bird list compared to Tom Bartlett's detailed Kelleye Island
list. What a difference a little latitude makes.

I camped on a private in-holding within Shawnee State Forest all weekend. I
woke Saturday morning to the songs of several new birds but Sunday I woke to
the songs of many new birds, Jim detailed in his list. I enjoyed the strong
wave of diversity which came in overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

There were Golden-crowned Kinglets singing with Wood Thrush, Northern
Parula, Ovenbird, and so on. There was a Winter Wren quietly dashing about
an old building, and there was a yellow-bellied sapsucker with all the
regular woodpeckers, and so on.

Good birding
