Yesterday afternoon as I enjoyed the alternating sun and clouds and
high-speed gusty winds in my backyard (Cleveland's West Park neighborhood --
about 2-3 miles S. of Lake Erie) I noticed quite a few (for my area) hawks
passing over. Unfortuately, my binoculars were in my boyfriend's car, and
what with the height at which most of the birds flyng, and the sheer wind
speed, I had a hard time getting the scope on anything. Most were blown from
sight before I could get on my feet! Nevertheless, I spotted/indentified:

Red-Tailed Hawk - 6
Buteo sp - 2 (bad lighting rendered only a silhouette, but most likely also
RTH)
Accipiter sp - 1 (same problem, probably a Coop)
Peregrine Falcon - 1

During the same time period I had my first Chimney Swift of the spring. Even
with its little "cigar with wings" shape, it was having trouble in
yesterday's brutal breezes.
