From my backyard windows, I can see a pair of White-breasted Nuthatches
working in a tree cavity that the starlings rejected. (They must have
known it was too good for them!)

My dog has started her spring shedding, so when I cleaned her brush I
put the hair in a new suet cage. I hung it low on an old brick burner
in the yard. I just saw one of the nuthatches go down to it and pull a
big clump of dog hair to take for the nest! I didn't get a good look at
which mate it was, but the literature says it would have been the
female.

I have so much to do inside the house today, but I'm not getting very
much done because of the danged birds outside...!
