Just as Scott had in Wayne County, we had all seven Ohio woodpeckers in
the "yard" today. It helps when the yard is 60 acres. It really helps
when some great beaver engineers have changed the habitat and created a
lot more dead trees by flooding a lot more territory. I often have a
six woodpecker day, but the Redheaded woodpecker is usually missing.
He was seen today on the same tree at the same time as a Sapsucker.
it's the first seven woodpecker day in 28 years of birding this place.
