This afternoon about 1/3 to 1/2 mile west of st.rt. 121 on New Madison-Coletown Road in southern Darke County,
Carol Hathaway and I discovered 3 adult sandhill cranes. Are they late migrants or could they be nesting?

Before that find, we were birding at a friend's farm/nature area in southern unglaciated Darke County near the origin of the Whitewater River.
