Nine Great Egrets were seen in the east end of Cowan Lake today. They were
visible only from the bluff above the Lotus Cove observation deck.
Great Egrets have been seem here daily since 27 Apr, but only once before
in these numbers (Bob Foppe, 5 May).

Shorebirds continue to be seen in Lotus Cove, but in somewhat smaller
numbers owing most probably to decreasing mud flats as the lake level
continues to rise slowly. Today's numbers:

 6 Great Blue Heron
 9 Great Egret
10 Lesser Yellowlegs
 4 Solitary Sandpiper
 8 Spotted Sandpiper
 3 Least Sandpiper
 2 Semipalmated Plover

Cheers,

Bob
