Hello all,
This evening our dog chased a raccoon up a tree just beginning to leaf
out. I noticed a small bird flitting around it and it turned out to be a
tufted titmouse. As I watched it grabbed at the coons tail. I thought it was
catching insects but my wife said that she had just read that they pull fur
for their nest. As we watched for about ten minutes the titmouse at times
actually landed on the coon which had curled up and looked very dejected. I
could see a large tuft of fur in the titmouses beak before it finally flew
away.
