Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone that parking on OSU campus is difficult
without a parking permit. They're very generous with their parking tickets
around these parts. There aren't many options other than to park in a legal
area somewhere in the vicinity and then walk in to look for the bird.
Also, Bell's Vireo is a species of special interest in Ohio and is by no
means common in central Ohio. With that said taping out this bird is
probably not a good idea and shouldn't be necessary to hear and see the
bird. Besides having to deal with the added stress of call-playback, any
bird attempting to nest in this area has to deal with significant amounts of
dog traffic crashing through the site (some mornings it seems like there are
about a thousand leash-less dogs in the area...we can save that topic for
the new bird forum I suppose). Bell's Vireo can sometimes be difficult to
get good looks at but with a bit of patience, they should show themselves.
My experience with this bird last year involved mostly morning encounters
before 9:30. At these times, the bird was literally impossible to miss and
could often be seen well when singing in the top of one of the young trees
here.
Good luck everyone.
