I have just not had the time to read all the posts about  multiple
sightings of birds pretty common this time of year, but I don't believe
anyone's included blue grosbeaks, which are not. They aren't really
rare, either, so I wouldn't bother to mention them if I felt everyone
paid attention to the bar-graphs in the OBRC checklist, because they
have merely showed up on schedule.
        Adams County, traditionally ground zero for this species in the state,
hosted its first reports on 27 April, and our local birding group found
one had arrived at the Pickaway Co spot where they've nested on and off
for decades, and steadily recently, on the 28th. Chances are they have
arrived in other dependable areas by now, as far north as Toledo. Last
year, Breeding Bird Atlas work discovered some nesting areas that were a
surprise to everyone, and last fall they stayed into October, a
phenomenally late date.
