Last might I was out running a calling frog/toad survey along the ALum Creek corridor here in Columbus, and had a good showing, er, rather 'hearing' of night migrants.  Best bird by far was the unmistakeable screech of a Barn Owl, flying high & northerly over Tanager Woods at about 11:30 PM.  This is the only Barn Owl I've ever had around Columbus, and it's doubly interesting that it was a 'migrant'.   I would have thought that owl migration was much earlier, so perhaps it was a young bird dispersing north to new hunting areas..  Other birds heard were a fair flight of Swainson's Thrushes (about 10-15 in the hour and a half that I was out), as well as 6-8 unidentified warblers, and two high thin calls that would likely have been some sparrows.   Unfortunately I wasn't able to get out there this morning to see if some early migrant fallout materialized, although the spot has been good of late.
