This morning a pair of Wilson's Phalaropes have returned to the Longbrake wetlands in Hardin Co. A pair successfully bred there last summer and hopefully they will try again this year.
The wet field where they nested last year is dry needless to say since this spring in north-central Ohio has been very, very dry. If they nest in the existing impoundment I hope they nest on high ground since the water level is down by around 6 inches. If it fills back up I'm afraid the eggs might get washed away.
