A friend reports a possible Mississippi kite seen over a golf course in
Logan yesterday. He describes it as a graceful dark gray crow-sized
raptor with a whitish head and trailing edge of the wings. this sounds
pretty good, but he also thought he saw a white tip to the tail and a
paler rump, which is not...I think the latter features would be harder
to judge than the former ones without binoculars, so mention the
possibility to observers in the area. As I pointed out not long ago, if
there is a prime time for this species in Ohio, we're smack dab in the
middle of it now. Another excuse to play golf, if you need one....
