I saw a male, hybrid warbler in mid to late April at Glacier Ridge Metro
Park just outside of Dublin,Ohio. It appeared to be a cross of a Common
Yellowthroat and a Yellow Warbler. It was singing a complex song that was
different than the wel- documented song for the male Common Yellowthroats.
I got a good look at it and it finally flew away from this tree toward the
cattails in the wetlands section. Just moments a rough-legged hawk cruised
over that very same tree and myself since I was still in the area. In fact,
I reported it the Ornithology Lab at Cornell Univ. closer to the time
mentioned. In the literature online, there was a hybrid of these 2 species
reported in the San Francisco Bay area of California... This
individual warbler was a very hyper fellow, constantly turning his face and
moving a branch or two away from the objectives of my
binoculars. Gary
