Since we moved to the hills and woods of southern Morgan County almost
12 years ago, I have had hairy, downy, red-bellied woodpeckers, house
and purple finches, nuthatches, even cardinals drink or try to drink
from my hummer feeders. I am constantly amazed at how adaptable they
are when finding a perch so they can drink from them.
I think maybe they just like sweet things. I always have a source of
water and 2 of my feeders are right next to fresh water, so go figure.
:)
Squirrels also like the nectar. They even like the taste of the feeder!
lol
