A general rule of thumb is anywhere where there are a lot of flat roofs.
There are some nesting on the roof of the brewery district Kroger if you
want an easy spot. [...]45_8Jun200710:31:[log in to unmask]

Have you every felt that you were being taunted by a bird and it's buddies?
This morning Rick and Richard Oxley joined me at the preserve. It seems that
everywhere we went Yellow-billed Cuckoos were calling, however, none
cooperated and came into view. We had to hear close to 30 individuals as we covered
various areas in the preserve. As we would walk away from a bird we could hear
that was close but hidden in the foliage, it would invariably give us a
departing call, instead of cuckoo it was more like gotcha.

We had better luck with the other birds. There were many Prothonotary
Warblers calling and many were nice enough to come out into the open. We also
watched a pair feeding hatchlings at their nest cavity. We observed a hummingbird
nest with a very active female and a male Northern Parula dropped low to
provide us with a nice show. I raised my classification for Wood Thrush for the
Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas as we observed fledglings being fed by an adult.
