Hello Ohio Birders,

OK I'll put my reputation on the line: I saw a sandhill crane flying due east over US 23 one mile north of South Bloomingville at 2:45 this afternoon (just north of Renick's Family Farm Market). It had all the field marks: head extended, bulky neck and body, wing motion with upward snap. It was flying about 150 feet above the ground, with the wind in front of a heavy shower, and it kept going.

I'm not aware of any central Ohio records for June, so doubt me if you must. (I did try to convince myself that it was a great blue heron, but it wasn't.)

Happy birding,

Dave Horn
