Hi All: Good news! The grasslands at Byers Woods in Ashland have not been mowed. On the Greater Mohican Audubon Society's monthly bird walk, we found half a dozen singing male BOBOLINKS. Other species included: Savannah Sparrows, Eastern Meadowlarks, a Grasshopper Sparrow, Yellow-breasted Chat, and Eastern Kingbird nest with young.

Lots of butterflies around too: Red Admirals, Clouded Sulfers, Cabbage Whites, Silver-spotted Skippers, Monarchs, Black Swallowtails, Meadow Fritillary, and Summer Azures.

For a schedule of GMAS birds walks, see our website at gmasohio.org
