Regina Schieltz, Marge Pepiot and I went to Shelby County in search of the blue grosbeak seen Friday by Troy Shively. Regina heard it singing, but we had a hard time locating it. Finally I spotted what turned out to be a female. Was the bird Troy saw a male? Do females sing? I imagine if they're there at this time of the summer, there would probably be a pair. We never did locate the male, although we continued to hear the song.
