Scoped a good variety of shorebirds this evening near the northern terminus
of Burr Oak Lake, Morgan County (DeLorme 70 D2). Access this area by
driving to the end of Dock 3 road off of SR 78.

Short-billed Dowitcher - 2
Semipalmated Plover - 16 (very vocal bunch)
Pectoral Sandpiper - 5
Least Sandpiper - 9
Spotted Sandpiper - 7
Solitary Sandpiper - 2
Killdeer - lots

Green Heron - 1
Great Blue Heron - 11
Canada Goose - 100+
Wood Duck - 13
Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1

Also, the number of frantically feeding and vocal Cedar Waxwings is amazing
there right now. They use the edge of the forest which abuts the lake to
sally out and catch insects. Eastern Phoebes and Barn Swallows are using
water lily flowers as their perch. On a non-bird note, there are numerous
beavers in this area that lay upside down and eat the water lilies - they
seem to be fearless. It's so quiet there that you hear them munching from
all around - at least 4 of them. Raccoon and deer are using the edge of the
mudflats as well and countless carp are nearly "beaching" themselves in the
mud. The serenity there sometimes is awesome!
