I have two quite different questions.

First, in many of the reports of birds sighted at various places in
the state
I often see "common" birds included in lists of sightings, such as
Cardinals etc.
But I have not noticed any Mockingbirds included on these lists. New
here I
checked my bird id book map and see that Mockingbirds are here
year around. I had never seen a Mockingbird in Michigan but have seen
2, perhaps 3 in my 4 weeks in Dayton. Just wondering, are they so
common
as not to be included of in lists of "what I saw while out today"? Or
did I miss them
in the lists?

For Daytonites - any tips on where to buy bird food? In Nebraska
I frequented a small individual farm feed store that sold a variety
of seed and peanuts etc. from bins by
the pound. I really liked the flexibility this afforded and the
prices and quality
were great. Oddly, I have not found any feed stores anywhere around
Fairborn.

Thanks,

Mary, Fairborn
