I would second Howard Mueller's observations that Nighthawks seem more conspicuous now than they did in June. I ran through several areas of central & east Columbus last night and found them calling at several locations (CSCC, Whitehall, the Airport, Easton) where I couldn't find them last month. I don't know if these are nesters, non-nesters, or post-nesters, however, and some of these places don't have the types of gravel roofs that would favor their nesting.
