Hi all,

I was at Conneaut Harbor from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM. What a difference a day makes. Northwest winds and negligible disturbance may have helped too (duh). While nothing mindbending, certainly an improvement over yesterday.

Semipalmated Plover-1
Killdeer-13
AMERICAN AVOCET-2 on the ground only briefly around 8:50
Lesser Yellowlegs-2
Spotted Sandpiper-4
Sanderling-2
Semipalmated Sandpiper-2
Least Sandpiper-4
Pectoral Sandpiper-1
Short-billed Dowitcher-1

With the exception of several fresh juvenile Killdeer, all birds were adults, many rather worn. I was snoozing in my car with the window cracked, when I heard Least Sandpiper flight calls, so I got up. The pair of avocets landed on a small sandbar with some Canada Geese, and called repeatedly. They flew off after only a couple of minutes. One of them was still wearing fairly bright alternate plumage.

Also
Bald Eagle-5
Caspian Tern-4, including one juvenile
Bank Swallow-750+

Cheers,
Ben Coulter
Erie, PA
