Three adult-plumaged Forster's Terns were flying around and resting on buoys in the central section of Alum Lake today. They were best seen from Alum Point (at the dead end of old State Road south of State 37), but could also be seen from the Cheshire boat launch and causeway. There were no other gulls or terns in this part of the lake, but there was a sizeable flock of swallows feeding over the water along the western shore, including Barns, Trees, Rough-wings, and Cliffs.

I was here surveying around ALum Point and nearby Big Run Road looking for Black-billed cuckoos, as I had an adult + juvenile here last Fall. No luck today, but did have several Yellow-billed cuckoos, as well as loads of singing Yellow warblers with fledgelings, and a single singing Black & White Warbler right at Alum Point.
