This AM two Bonaparte's Gulls in full breeding plummage joined the Ring-bills on Caesar Creek beach. A loud gun shot spooked the flock and the Bonaparte's did not return while I was there. Two of the Ring-bills are juveniles. The only other birds of interest were seven Killdeer.

The pond near the observation tower had two Solitary Sandpipers, six additonal Killdeer, four Mallards and an adult Wood Duck with four half-grown young. A Red-shouldered Hawk flew over and I heard a Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

Pleasant Weather Chees, Larry Gara, Wilmington
