Hey all -
Conneaut and Mosquito were a productive combo this
morning. The highlight at Conneaut was 3 RED KNOTS,
which were extremely cooperative. They were in the
presence of a S-B Dowitcher and a Stilt Sandpiper all
morning. Mosquito was slightly more productive, with
a couple hundred shorebirds. Highlights here included
WESTERN and WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS (both species at
fairly close range), and a WILSON'S PHALAROPE, all of
which I was able to share with a couple from
Pennsylvania. Warblers seen at Mosquito were
PROTHONOTARY (right at the shorebird area), Hooded,
Blackburnian, and Chestnut-sided. Bobolinks were
constantly passing overhead and I counted over 50
birds, interestingly, all headed north. Other
waterbirds included shovelers at both sites, Greater
Scaup (Conneaut), P-b Grebe (Mosquito), and numerous
Bald Eagles, Osprey, egrets, etc.
I stopped at LaDue on the way home, but added nothing
more than Solitary Sandpiper.
Good birding -
