In asking around Van wert to see if any other flat roofed structures
have hosted nighthawks, we haven't come up with any. Interestingly,
the hospital and its separate office building, both of which have
sizable expanses of flat gravel roofs, have had nesting killdeers on
them for at least the past three years. Maybe this is another species
making the transition from threatened ground-level habitat to man-
made structures.
