This is the Ohio Rare Bird Report for August 3, 2007.
Compiler: Paul Gardner. Email: [log in to unmask]

Mississippi Kite: Ann Cramer and Shaune and Jim Skinner saw two at
the Brass Ring Golf Course, Logan, on the 29th. Ann reports that the
golfers claim to have seen three perched neared hole 5. Jason Lawson
saw one kite on the 31st. Confirmation of breeding would be much
appreciated.

Western Sandpiper: Charlie Bombaci and Jim Fry saw one from the
northeastern shore of Hoover Reservoir Nature Preserve, Delaware
County, on the 27rd. Apparently the bird has not been relocated
since.

Buff-breasted Sandpiper: Paul Gardner and Jeff Grabmeier had a very
early bird on the northeastern shore of Hoover Reservoir Nature
Preserve, Delaware County, on the 28th. It has not been reported
since.

Laughing Gull: One was loafing with other gulls and Caspian terns on
the 28th at the northeastern shore of Hoover Reservoir Nature
Preserve, Delaware County. It was not relocated on the 31st. Both
reports by Paul Gardner.

EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE: David Horn had a fly-by on Rt. 23 about a
mile south of South Bloomfield, Pickawy County, on the 31st that
suggested this bird. In other states, populations of Eurasian
collared-doves have expanded like brush-fires after initial
colonization. If you want to find your own review-list Ohio bird,
this species offers an excellent chance.
