Greetings, everyone!

I have not heard anything regarding this bird down in my corner of the state. I was able to find the two original posts on the WV list serve, though:

  http://list.audubon.org/wa.exe?A2=ind0708&L=wv-bird&T=0&P=3664

  http://list.audubon.org/wa.exe?A2=ind0708&L=wv-bird&T=0&P=3581

According to the first post, the bird was not relocated on Tuesday, August 14th.

The main list serve site is:

  http://list.audubon.org/archives/wv-bird.html

Perhaps we will get lucky and it will swing this way. I will keep my eyes open at Salt Fork and The Wilds.

  Good birding,

I don't know anything more about this than what's contained in the two posts below, so don't contact me for more info; but I've looked at the photos, and it does look like the bird is a Great Knot, a species I've studied closely in China and Australia. (not just a great knot, which could be just a great sighting of a Red Knot -- the Great Knot is a different species.) Have any of you birders in eastern or southeastern Ohio heard anything about this?

Matt

The shorebird in the photos looks like a pretty straightforward, moulting adult Great Knot. This must be pretty darn rare anywhere in the USA away from Western Alaska!

Hi All,
This shorebird was photographed near Winfield, WV
yesterday. Eyewitnesses said it was 1/4 to 1/2 times larger
than a Killdeer.
