Akron Metro Parks - Overlook. HIKE: Overlook Trail (birds high in the tree-tops enjoying the eastern sun); followed by a stop at Oxbow Area and Chuckery Area, and on to Memorial Pkwy. Towpath Trail.
  TIME: 8:20am-9:50am (drive-thrus - 9:50am-10:30am) TEMP.: 42-57F COND.: Cloudy, cool, unseasonably cool - downright brisk - birds very active. VEH.MI.: 20.0 FT.MI.: 0.75.
  OBS.: Jim Vogus, Douglas W. Vogus.

  1. Canada Goose - 10 (1 flock heading north following the Cuyahoga)
  2. Mallard - 6 (4m,2f - 1 flyover m & f at Overlook and 3m,1f at Memorial Pkwy)
  3. Red-tailed Hawk - 2 (adults, 1 at Overlook and 1 at Memorial Pkwy.)
  4. Rock Pigeon - 11
  5. Mourning Dove - 3
  6. Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1 (eating a hairy white/black caterpillar)
  7. Chimney Swift - 6
  8. Belted Kingfisher - 2 (m)
  9. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 2 (1m,1*)
  10. Downy Woodpecker - 3 (1f,2*)
  11. Hairy Woodpecker - 1 (f)
  12. Northern Flicker - 8 (1m,1juv. m, 6? - staging and migrating, but heading north)
  13. Pileated Woodpecker - 1 (* - drumming)
  14. Eastern Phoebe - 1
