Yep, that's a Charlie the Chukar alright! We had one hanging around our
porch for several weeks a couple years ago and got very attached to him.
There's a bird hunting group a few miles away from us that apparently raised
some and released them for hunting. "Ours" escaped at least for awhile. He
disappeared before we could get him to a sanctuary and I'm afraid he
probably got picked off by the local hawks.

He climbed up on the railing of our porch every afternoon about 5pm and
settled in for the night. He didn't seem to care if we went near him after
he'd settled in. I have some great closeup pictures that I treasure.
