I spent most of the morning looking for migrants around the southern end of ALum Lake State Park (Delaware County, north of Columbus) and a few areas along ALum Creek downstream from there. I started at New Galena boat launch area, then worked around to the visitors center and beach, then stopped at a few sites going south towrds Westerville, finishing at Heritage Park in Westerville.. Activity was brisk early in the morning, but quieted down substantially after 9-9:30. Highlights included:

Wild Turkey - startled one from a roost at New Galena. I've seen them further up the lake, but never down at the southern end.

Shorebirds - nothing special, but a few small flocks of Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers (at New Galena and the Beach, respectively) indicated a movement of these species.

Gulls&Terns - a LAUGHING GULL was mixed in with the 300+ Ring-bills along the beach. Also present were a single Herring Gull & Caspian Tern.

Hummingbirds - 2-3 were at every stop, showing a steady movement of these little guys.

Flycatchers - little other than Pewees.

Red-br.Nuthatch - had 1 at New Galena and another at Heritage Park. Neither spot has much in the way of conifers, so these birds must be migrating in good numbers now.

Vireos - good movement, with 4 species at New Galena early (5 Warbling, 3 White-eyed, 2 Red-eyed, and 1 Yellow-throated)

Thrushes - a single Veery was at New Galena, along with 50-60 Robins.

Mimids - 50+ Catbirds at New Galena was rather high. A Brown Thrasher was also there.

Warblers - New Galena had Black-throated Green, Magnolia, Chesnut-sided, and 3 Common Yellowthroats. Heritage Park chipped in a WIlson's and a Parula, but warblers were nowhere common.

Icterids - New Galena had a few high-flying Redwings and a lurking Baltimore Oriole

butterflies - nice movement of Monarchs, with 25-30 scattered around the scrubby areas of the beach and Vistor's Center, and more flying out over the lake. The Visitor's Center also had a Buckeye and many sulphurs, but no Cloudless yet.
