Hello!

Nothing special to report but during a hike this evening along the pet  trail
at Highbanks in southern Delaware County, I saw and/or heard the following
notable birds:

White-Throated Sparrow-several, first of the fall season
Black-Throated Blue Warbler
American Redstart-4
Black-Throated Green Warbler-2
Magnolia Warbler-5
Swainson's Thrush-2
Eastern Phoebe-2
Yellow-Throated Vireo
Chimney Swift-3
Pileated Woodpecker
Great-Horned Owl-heard a pair calling from the area near the sycamore tree
in the ravine along Dripping Rock Trail where a pair has nested the past
several  years.  This past year's nest apparently failed as the pair was no longer
seen/heard nor were pellets/whitewash observed in the area after the spring
ice/snow storm.

On a side note, apparently as a result of the same storm, the overall  number
of Eastern Bluebirds that nested/fledged in the 69 Bluebird boxes in the
park were down this year around 75% from previous years.  In the 10 boxes  that
I've monitored the past several years, 5 were fledged from one box the  whole
summer, whereas last year around 30 were hatched from several boxes.

On another side note, we still have at least 3 resident Hummingbirds coming
to our feeders at our house north of Highbanks and Powell Road, and
Red-Breasted  Nuthatches have been observed at the Highbanks Nature Center feeders.
