Many of you have signed up for this Saturday morning's field trip to to East
Harbor State Park, and a few people have asked me for directions, so I
thought posting this to the list might be helpful. The park is not that hard to
find, especially since brown highway signs direct the way to EHSP.

I imagine many of you will be crossing Sandusky Bay on your way to the
symposium so be warned, the orange barrels are out again. Route 2's Edison Bridge
crossing the bay is one lane each way, but traffic delay should be minimal.

If you are heading west on Rt 2, take the first exit after crossing the
bridge - Rt. 269 North (Rt 269 South is on the south side of the bay). Stay in
the left exit lane and head north on Rt 269. Continue to the stoplight on Rt
163. Turn right on Rt 163.

Continuing on Rt 163 will take you to the entrance to Lakeside (a private
community on the left (north) side of the road before you reach the town of
Marblehead) and to Danbury High School (a large school on your left before you
enter the town of Marblehead). The Galley Restaurant and Freighters Lounge,
site of Friday evenings informal social gathering, is located in a former
brick schoolhouse just past the main cluster of buildings in downtown Marblehead.

Getting back to directions to EHSP, after turning right on Rt 163 turn left
at the next stoplight just a short distance down the road. The entrance to
EHSP will be on your right, one mile down this road. All the groups for EHSP
will meet at the same location. After entering the park, stay in the left
hand lane and continue until this road ends near the lake. Turn right and
continue to the end of the road/parking area. Look for the small signs
indicating your group A, B, or C (note: some of the earliest registrations did not
receive a group designation).

A location map and a map of East Harbor State Park can be found at
