Greetings---today 10/25 I made my first-ever visit to Shenango WA in Trumbull Co. Access is right off State Rte. 87 near Kinsman. There are extensive, high-quality wetlands here. Nice woods and brushy areas too. Exercise proper caution as there are hunters about. Among the birds present were red-headed woodpeckers, brown creeper, golden-crowned kinglet, e. bluebirds, yellow-rumped warblers, and rusty blackbirds. I'm sure I would have found more if I'd been there in the morning instead of mid-day. There is great habitat for rarer nesters such as (hopefully) teal, bitterns, rails, moorhens, etc. Plenty of snags with woodpecker holes suitable for prothonotary warblers and other cavity nesters. I will definitely be doing some OBBA2 atlassing here next year. I also took a look around Pymatuning. The gathering of ducks and shorebirds at the west end of the causeway is no more. I only had 1 lesser yellowlegs, overhead. The PA side has a good variety of waterfowl and
raptors. There were no divers visible from the causeway. Later, Craig
