Flocks of juncos were flying around everywhere while I was picking grapes
today on South Bass Island-we had a very strong northeast wind. Right
before dark, I flushed a woodcock while mowing.
On a recent boat trip to the east end of Lake Erie there had been numerous
common loons and horned grebes seen between Long Point and the U.S. Here
on South Bass, I haven't seen much waterfowl other than double-crested
cormorants.
