I took a drive around the island today to see what waterfowl were around.
Large groups of double-crested cormorants (50-100) at three locations. One
canvasback, one bufflehead, and one pied-billed grebe were mixed in with
about 20 mallards in the bay to the south of the monument. About 50
Bonaparte's gulls were present at the East Point turnaround along with
herring and ring-billed gulls.
