Today (10/13), there were 11 species of sparrows in the impoundment in Lorain Harbor.  Included were 1 LECONTES SPARROW, 3 SHARP-TAILED SPARROW, and 1 GRASSHOPPER SPARROW.  Other species found were field sparrow- 4, vesper sparrow- 1, song sparrow- 50+, Lincoln's sparrow- 2, swamp sparrow- 100+, white-throated- 50+, white-crowned sparrow- 100+, and dark-eyed junco 20+.  The only other birds of note were a dozen American pipits.  there were not a lot of gulls and what were there were mainly ring-billed with a few herring and Bonaparte's and no waterfowl of note.  
 
The sparrows were all in the center of the impoundment where the vegetation is a little lower.  What surprised me was even though I was pishing and had my dog with me, many of the sparrows did not flush until I almost stepped on them.    I'm guessing a raptor may have made a sweep just before I came in.
