Hi all,
After viewing the Pine Grosbeak near Oak Openings today, I decided to stop by the Huron River to try for the Sabine’s Gull. I was shocked at how many gulls were there; more than I have ever seen on Lake Erie and that’s including E. 72nd Street. Through the thousands of Bonaparte’s, Mike Busam and I were able to pick out a Little Gull right away as it constantly flew back and forth in front of us. We moved on towards the lighthouse and started scanning for the juvenile Sabine’s. After searching for quite a while, we finally spotted it at 3:45pm as it flew 8 yards in front of us heading west. Also present were Red-breasted Mergansers, Tundra Swans and a Surf Scoter. Good luck!
