Slightly off topic, I know, but is there a list of licensed bird rehab
people available to the general public? I think I know of one here in
Licking Co. (at least, she used to be), but I'm not certain what is involved
in getting the license, etc.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] SNOWY OWL - Cleveland

Kim and I received a telephone call from Cleveland Police Department about
11pm last night (Friday Nov 23) that "an injured owl is sitting by the
roadside at 117th Street and I-90." Not having permits for injured birds,
we called Cleveland Metroparks naturalist and licensed falconer Jeff Riebe,
who found the bird in short order and reported that it is an apparently
UNINJURED but extremely thin juvenile SNOWY OWL, to my knowledge the first
of the 2007-2008 winter season on the north coast.

Jeff reports this morning that the bird took electrolytes last night, and
eagerly scarfed down a fresh mouse this morning. The bird is being
transferred to Mona Rutgers today (Saturday) and pending a successful
recovery, will be released in a few weeks.

It might be a good time to start scanning Burke and other known Snowy
locations for other birds!

Good birding.... Bob
