NOV. 25, 2007 - Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation Towpath Trail - Leonard Krieger Nature Center north to Harvard Ave. (hike includes all waysides on trek north & south)
  TIME: 7:55am-10:10am north/ 10:10am-11:30am south TEMP.: 23-38
  COND.: Cold/brisk early, warming throughout; sunny with blue skies.
  FT. MI.: 4.80 (including waysides up & back) OBS.: Douglas W. Vogus.
  I. MAMMALS: 3 SPECIES.

  2. Eastern Fox Squirrel - 4
  3. Eastern Cottontail - 1
  II. BIRDS: 38 SPECIES.
  (NOTE: ?= bird was seen but not sexed; *= bird was heard but not seen)

  2. American Black Duck - 4 (2m,2f)
  3. Mallard - 17 (12m,5f)
  4. Pied-billed Grebe - 1
  5. Great Blue Heron - 3
  6. Red-tailed Hawk - 6 (3 pairs)
  7. American Kestrel - 2 (1m,1f - together)
  8. Bonaparte's Gull - 21 (1 single bird w/flock of RBG; and 1 flock of 20)
  9. Ring-billed Gull - 406
  10. Herring Gull - 3
  11. Rock Pigeon - 11
  12. Mourning Dove - 20
  13. Belted Kingfisher - 2 (1m,1?)
  14. Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1 (m)
  15. Downy Woodpecker - 9 (2m,2f,2?,3*)
  16. Hairy Woodpecker - 2 (f)
  17. Blue Jay - 5
  18. American Crow - 2
  19. Black-capped Chickadee - 5
  20. White-breasted Nuthatch - 5 (1m,2?,2*)
  21. Carolina Wren - 2
  22. American Robin - 4
  23. Northern Mockingbird - 3
  24. European Starling - 4
  25. Cedar Waxwing - 41 (1 flock of 34 & 1 flock of 7 w/f purple finch)
  26. American Tree Sparrow - 7

  29. Swamp Sparrow - 1
  30. White-throated Sparrow - 26
  31. White-crowned Sparrow - 1 (first winter bird w/ 2 song & 6 tree sparrows)

  34. Red-winged Blackbird - 9 (7m,1f,1*)
  35. Purple Finch - 1 (f - w/ 7 waxwings)
