We drove over yesterday to Jasper-Pulaski Wildlife Area in northwest Indiana
to see the Sandhills. Boy, what a sight. By sundown there were way over
ten thousand birds in a huge flock at the far side of the field, and one
whooper among them, but a smaller flock of about a thousand eventually
landed in an area the size of a football field right in front of the viewing
tower. Best crane viewing I've ever seen.
