I wasn't able to get out on what looks like was a great day for birds on
Saturday, due to an all day meeting in Newark. I did manage to get some
birding in early on Sunday, before my wife and I took our dog out to the
park for his birthday.

My idea was to look for some of these irruptive finches that everyone has
been seeing, so I decided to hit a couple places that I knew had pretty good
feeders: Greenlawn Cemetery, Blacklick Creek MetroPark, and Blendon Woods
Metropark (in that order). Bird activity wasn't too high at any of the three
spots. I did not see any Purple Finches or Pine Siskins, unfortunately.
Noticeably absent were sparrows - I had Dark Eyed Juncos in low numbers at
each spot and a single Song Sparrow at the feeder at Thoreau Lake at Blendon
Woods. Red Breasted Nuthatches were present at Greenlawn and Blacklick.

My best bird of the weekend was a single Black Vulture observed between
Newark and Columbus along SR 161 on my way back into town on Saturday.
