I didn't see anything particularly noteworthy on our farm during my most recent six-day "visit" until my last day. Monday morning the first pine siskin of the season visited the thistle feeder along with numerous goldfinches. Maybe it was on its way to Jim Fry's place.

My first junco was October 11, and then I didn't see any numbers of them until this past weekend (11/3-4). Now there are a few around.

Turkey vultures continue to soar over the Flint Ridge upland in moderate numbers. I hope they clean up the doe Jane found yesterday, abandoned by some poacher near our bridle trail in the east ravine.
