Hey all,
Spent a few hours this afternoon at HBSP . Got there too late for the waterfowl movement, if there was any. However the find of the day would be Northern Saw-whet Owl roosting along the path to the breakwall. Most of the birds I saw other than the owl were mobbing the owl or in the dunes. Mobbing the owl was a large group of small passerines including 8 Golden-crowned Kinglet, 3 Winter Wren, 1 Downy Woodpecker, 11 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Tufted Titmice, 5 Black-capped Chickadee's and a single Cape May Warbler. It was an awful lot of commotion for such a small predator. Other than that only other birds of note were a Northern Mockingbird, large numbers of American Tree Sparrows and a fly over Pine Siskin.
Good Birding,
Phil Chaon
