The White-winged crossbill showed up at my feeders a little after 10:00 and
came in off and on until 12:30. After the winds moved in at a little before
1:00, the crossbill was not seen again (nor do I blame it). My feeders were
very active this morning with lots of northern cardinals (46+) and dark-eyed
juncos (40+). The fox sparrow was not see today or yesterday. Other birds
of interest at the feeders were 1 COMMON REDPOLL, 1 PINE SISKIN, 4-5
red-breasted nuthatches, and a brown creeper. Probably the most weird
sighting was a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET that attempted to feed at my suet
feeder. It tried to feed for about two minutes before moving on. After it
got windy I pretty much just got ground feeders such as juncos,
white-throated and song sparrows, and cardinals. It was pretty much
impossible to sit on the feeders due to the high winds. There was a total
of 23 birds at the feeders today.
