The Lake Erie lakefront on Sunday was busy with birds.

At Lakewood Park, Cuyahoga County, we had a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, 9
Tundra Swans, 3 Black Scoters, 2 Common Loons, a Bald Eagle, a pair of
Northern Harriers (male and female) and a fly-by LONG-TAILED DUCK. About
1/2 mile west we refound the OLDSQUAW (female), which dove directly out of
the air to avoid the marauding eagle.

At the Clifton Beach Club, we found a large flock of Hooded Mergansers.

The amazingly reliable divers remain at Rocky River Park, with large
flocks of Black and Surf scoters, Hooded Merganser, Common Goldeneye,
Bufflehead and Ruddy ducks, plus 3 Northern Harriers (1 male, 2 females).

At the Huntington Beach Reservation of the Cleveland MetroParks, we picked
out a Common Redpoll and several Pine Siskins from among the hundreds of
American Goldfinch feeding on the birch, sweet gum and sycamore seeds
available there.

At Miller Park beside the Avon Lake power plant, we found 3 more LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 2 Common Mergansers (males), several Common Loons,
Ruddy Ducks and Hooded Mergansers.
