I read an article in The Ohio State University Alumni Updates. OSU and
the USDA are doing a study in Wayne County to determine if Starlings
carry E-coli from animal feed lot to animal feed lot. They have put
radio transmitters on several Starlings and tied different colored
ribbons to about 2000 other Starlings. The study came about after the
E-coli outbreaks this Summer with Spinach and ground beef. They are
trying to track where the Starlings go to see if they carry E-coli on
them and transfer the bacteria to other feedlots.

If you see one of these birds you may want to report it to the OSU
extension office in Wooster.
