This AM Melvin Gravel Pit was loaded with waterfowl, much of it too far out to ID. There are several hundred Canada Geese plus at least fourteen Pintails and four Snow Geese.
The owners want birders to stay on the edge of the road and to be told when you bird there. There is usually someone in the office and they are birder friendly

Melvin is about seven miles East of Wilmington, off State Road 22. There is a small church on Melvin Road by the lake.
