Greetings---Did some looking around the Local Patch (Poland Twp., Coitsville Twp., Struthers) yesterday with surprisingly good results: 13 wild turkeys, red-shouldered hawks, red-tailed hawks, 4 Am. kestrels, n. flicker, 25 e. bluebirds, 3 n. mockingbirds, Am. robins, 60+ dark-eyed juncos, song sparrow, Am. tree sparrows, Lapland longspur, and Am. goldfinches were the highlights. The longspur was at one of the freshly-manured fields in Coitsville Twp. Man, there must be a lot of longspurs, horned larks, and snow buntings in Ohio right now. Ditto for pintails, siskins, redpolls, and some other species. A very interesting beginning to the Winter season! Craig
