Larry Gorbet and I were in search of some winter residents this afternoon when we got great looks at an American Bittern at Sheldon Marsh. The bird was seen in the marsh area, from the first observation deck west of the main road (that leads to the beach). It flew from about 15m away from us, across the marsh, then settled in some reeds approximately 40m away. We got excellent looks at the under side and top side of the bird as it gracefully flew.
What a treat!

Happy Birding,
